In the case of Operação Nariz Vermelho (ONV), the IRS consignment represents more than 1/3 of the annual budget and gains significant importance, since we don’t rely on state subsidies and support and our income depends on the support of the community. We offer visits by the Clown Doctors to our 21 partner hospitals at no cost, which is why all forms of community support are essential.
That’s why we can’t emphasise enough the importance of the IRS consignment and try to demystify the process. So here are some reasons to consider joining:
1- It’s very easy and quick: just fill in a cross and a number (in the case of Operação Nariz Vermelho, the NIF is: 506 133 729).
2- Anyone who makes discounts in Portugal can join and consign;
3- The State has increased the percentage of IRS consignment from 0.5% to 1% as of 2025, and since this 1% is taken from the part that would go to the State coffers, taxpayers are not harmed or receive less when the IRS is refunded.
4- Consigning is a moment of freedom of choice, as everyone can choose the mission and institution with which they most identify.
5- It’s good for everyone’s conscience because it reinforces our role in the community.
